The challenge and the solution
The challenge
Taco Nation is a fast-casual taco spot in Oklahoma City running about $100,000 a month in card volume. After several years on Toast, they were paying roughly 2.5%, about $2,500 every month in fees.
In fast casual, tickets are small and volume is everything, so a couple of points on every card really adds up.
The solution
We moved them to Dual Pricing, so a posted card price offsets processing, and upgraded them from Toast to the Shift4Dine platform: online and QR ordering, third-party delivery, a full kitchen display system, and loyalty on the customer-facing display.
After years on their old POS, they closed for a single day for our on-site techs to cut everything over, then reopened live the next morning. We stayed on-site for a couple of days to squash bugs and train the staff.
About $2,500 a month, roughly $30,000 a year, is now offset instead of paid, on a modern platform built to grow the business. Even after the switch, more than 90% of customers still pay by card, now at near-zero cost.

In the client’s words
The Black Mesa Payments team showed me the savings on Dual Pricing, and I was skeptical. But now I'm a full believer that this program works. Our customers appreciate the cash option being there, but we still get more than 90% card payments, just with near-zero fees.
