Your business customers are already accepting cards. Someone earns that processing revenue and takes that support call. If your institution does not run a merchant services desk of its own, that someone sits outside your walls, with no stake in the operating account. Black Mesa Payments works alongside regional banks and credit unions as the payments consultant to their business customers, so the institution keeps the relationship without building a merchant services desk from scratch.
What we are, and what we are not
Black Mesa Payments is a payments consultancy and a registered partner and ISO of Evolv, Electronic Payments and Shift4. We are not a bank. We hold no deposits, we issue no accounts, and we offer no banking or insured products of any kind. Your institution remains the financial institution in every one of these relationships. We take the merchant services conversation that most commercial teams do not have the staff, the platform or the time to run well.
We can board on Fiserv, TSYS, Global Payments or Worldpay, so a program built for your commercial book is not forced onto one set of rails to make our side of it easier.
The gap this is built to fill
- A commercial customer asks about card acceptance and there is no in-house answer
- A referral arrangement exists on paper, with pricing your relationship managers cannot explain
- Merchant support calls land on branch staff who were never trained to take them
- A business shops processors on its own and the institution hears about it afterward
We take that work off the branch and off the commercial team. The business gets a rep who does payments all day. You keep the operating account, the lending conversation and the credit for solving it.
What the business customer actually gets
The same program every Black Mesa merchant gets. A referred account is not a thinner tier.
- Pricing set per merchant from volume, average ticket and credit and debit mix, with no junk or hidden fees
- A processor fee program locked for the life of the relationship. Card brand interchange, dues and assessments are set by the card brands and sit outside anyone's control, ours included, and we say so before anyone signs
- Same-day or next-day funding on every account
- Terminals, point of sale, online gateways and virtual terminals matched to how the business actually takes payment
- Support that is 24/7 and US based, with no phone tree, so a terminal failure at 9pm on a Saturday does not arrive at a branch on Monday morning
Nearly all of our merchants are month to month. The one exception is the Shift4Dine restaurant POS, which carries a 36-month agreement, and we name it up front rather than in a footnote.
The cash flow side of the conversation
Acceptance is where a merchant relationship starts. What holds a business customer is what happens to the money afterward.
- Funding timing. Every account funds same day or next day, so receipts land faster without a business customer drawing on a credit facility.
- ACH acceptance. For customers who bill on terms, moving a recurring receivable to ACH takes it off card pricing altogether.
- Reconciliation. Our Hyfin integration replaces the processing built into QuickBooks Online, which runs 2.99% on invoices, 3.5% on keyed and other card-not-present transactions and 1% on ACH. It syncs both ways, so a paid invoice closes itself instead of waiting on a bookkeeper.
- Software that will not let go. Field-service, home-service and salon platforms usually allow exactly one processor, at 3% to 4%. Open Payments Connect routes that volume into a program the business actually chose.
None of this moves a deposit anywhere. It changes what a business pays in order to get paid, and how fast the money lands in the account it already keeps with you.
Structured around your institution, not a template
There is no single partner program here with one set of terms. The structure gets worked out per institution: how referrals reach us, whether we appear co-branded at the customer touchpoint or stay behind your team, who makes first contact with the business, and what reporting comes back to you. If you want us in the room for the commercial call, we will be there. If you would rather have one point of contact and a regular summary, that works too. Commercial terms between us belong in that same conversation, not in a template you receive after the fact.
Financing works the same way. Where a business customer has a need that falls outside your credit box, we can make an introduction to financing options through our partner network. That is an introduction, qualified case by case. It is not an approval, a commitment or a promise about terms, and we will not describe it as one to your customer.
An Oklahoma company, in the same rooms as your customers
We are headquartered in Tulsa with a presence in Grove, and our reps are real people you can reach rather than a national call center. Andy Grove is in Tulsa, Brian Werkman is in Oklahoma City, and between them they bring more than two decades of combined hands-on payments experience. We are members of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association and the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, so your commercial customers and ours often sit at the same tables. Our inside sales team extends the same program to business customers nationwide.
Hospitality is our strongest vertical, and it is a demanding one: a single property takes payment at the front desk, the restaurant, the bar, the event contract and the incidental at checkout. If your commercial book carries restaurants, lodging, retail, contractors or professional practices, we have run these conversations before.
Starting the conversation
The first step is not a contract. It is a call about your commercial book, what your business customers keep asking for, and whether a referral relationship or something deeper is the right shape. A typical merchant we board is live in 3 to 5 business days, and a full point-of-sale install needs at least two weeks, so we can tell you plainly what a referred customer should expect. You can also read through the integrations we run before you call. If we are not the right fit for your institution, we will say so instead of selling you a program.
